SCANDACROSS see's Sarahjane (Faithful Dawn/Novus) make a return to her beloved post punk/gothic roots, to record a new album entitled >Shellacskin< destined to delight the dark at heart.Recorded in her adopted homeland, of rural Cumbria, England, she has managed to capture the wild forces and emotions that shape Lakeland, with its brooding mountains, its blackwater valleys, its craggs, tarns and stone circles. A landscape of closely interwoven peoples, bordering on the almost interbred edge of polite civilisation. Songs of shattered bones, shattered dreams, broken glass and broken relationships. Songs of fire, ice, death, re-birth and future love.SCANDACROSS also see's Sarahjane once again strap on her bass guitar, to drive her songs and vocal melodies along. The production values are unashamedly 'old school' to avoid over processing and compressing the lifeforce out of the material, so the edges are rough and spartan, again rather like Cumbria. "This album wears its heart on its sleeve, rather like me, and is a guilty pleasure for the gothic soul. I'm not pretending this is a brave new dawn in musical history, but simply a collection of songs and emotions, that will resonate with the people who matter to me most, and I dedicate it to my many children"
