Sweet Kill (The) : Nowhere - CD
Ref: 24580
THE SWEET KILL has been the solo project of the US musician Pete Mills since the mid-noughties, and after rather sporadic recordings, he has been releasing new music quite continuously for several years. After the highly praised 2022 album "Darkness", Pete is back with an all new opus. While solo projects are usually in the Electro or Darkwave genres, THE SWEET KILL is clearly inspired by Gothrock, a genre that actually thrives primarily on the interaction of a band. The fact that Mills' sound still works solo', very well shows his musical talent. The musical range goes from a very catchy sound in "Undead", Dark Rock in "Evil" and almost Guitar Wave in "Creeper" to uptempo numbers like "Destroy". "Nowhere" is a wonderful Wave ballad that is somewhat reminiscent of Psychedelic Furs (in their catchier moments) and "Divide" is a Postpunk earworm that doesn't need to hide from comparison with some of the more well-known scene bands such as A Projection, Actors or The Foreign Resort. The songs are full of beautiful melodies and especially Pete Mills' vocals, which safely avoid all Gothrock clichés and are highly recognizable due to their naturalness. The fact that the individual songs are mostly short and snappy - no song is longer than 4 minutes - is an additional plus point. A limited VINYL edition will be announced shortly
