This album marks the incredible and unexpected return of one of the most legendary German electro/synth pop acts ever! Formerly known as Evils Toy (since 1992) – with 6 successful albums between 1993 and 2000 - the project was re-named in 2000 in T.O.Y. (standing for T rademark O f Y outh), and released another 3 albums on the E-Wave label. Band leader Volker Lutz about the album: “The Prophet is something truly special. During the Corona pandemic, wrapped in isolation, we all needed consistency, a sense of comfort, and security. I found that feeling through sounds—the sounds I have known my whole life: the music of the 80s. During the pandemic, I began replacing my virtual synthesizers and plug-ins with the original instruments, like a LinnDrum, The Prophet 5 and the legendary Roland VP330. It was a time-consuming, costly, yet beautiful process. These instruments, the primordial soup from which the style of music I love so deeply was born, were a revelation to me. Courageously and full of ideas, one song after another emerged. Motivated by the wonderful collaboration and friendship with Alphaville frontman Marian Gold , who kept encouraging me with words about how good this record was, the pandemic passed, and so did one year after another. Through my friendship with Faithless drummer Andy Treacey, I got in touch with Jonathan White, also a member of the Faithless family. A true genius on bass in live performances, he became part of the album as well.
